Highlights from the May 2020 Board Meeting

Principal/Vice-Principal Changes

 

Retirement:

Laurie Davids, Principal, St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School in Tilsonburg, will retire effective June 30, 2020. Special thanks to Laurie for her ‘servant and humble leadership’ to the students, staff and the Board over her many years of service. We wish her all the best in retirement.

 

Elementary:

Liz Smith, currently Elementary Vice-Principal, St. Anne’s Catholic Elementary School (St. Thomas) is appointed as Elementary Principal, St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School, effective September 1, 2020.

 

Karen Nemett, currently Elementary Vice-Principal, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School is transferred as Elementary Vice-Principal St. Anne’s Catholic Elementary School (St. Thomas), effective September 1, 2020.

 

Paula Trudell Gregory, a former teacher, Vice-Principal and Principal with the London District Catholic School Board, is rehired and appointed as Elementary Vice-Principal, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School, effective September 1, 2020.

 

Secondary:

Danielle Gosse, currently Secondary Vice-Principal, Catholic Central High School is transferred as Secondary Vice-Principal, St. André Bessette Catholic Secondary School, effective September 1, 2020.

 

Matthew Costella, currently Department Head and Teacher, Regina Mundi College, is appointed as Secondary Vice-Principal, Catholic Central High School, effective September 1, 2020.

 

 

Change Maker-Innovation Award 2019/2020

The United Way Elgin Middlesex has awarded the Change Maker Innovation Award 2019-20 to TVRA for the United in Sport initiative. LDCSB’s Senior Convenor, Tim Clayton made a presentation. This award recognizes those who put local love in action in innovative, impactful ways that motivate people to mobilize, to collaborate, to give.

Acceptance of Change Maker Award from Elgin Middlesex United Way on behalf of TVRA.

Director’s Report – Faith and Learning

A variety of updates were provided surrounding the work being done now and preparations for the Fall in the following areas: JK Orientation, Professional Learning, Continuity of Learning, Summer School and Summer Programming, Our Learning Continues Surveys, and Planning for September 2020 and Beyond. Details on some of the updates will be shared in next week’s Direct from the Director.
